Interpersonal Conflict
For this post, describe in detail an interpersonal conflict situation, real or hypothetical. Describe the context of the conflict, the people involved, the main problem, and the possible causes. Try to identify the feelings and/or motivations of the people involved. Finally, while considering the main problem and your search for a solution, ask for feedback from your readers in the form of ONE question. Again, clarity and conciseness are important, as is completeness in your telling.
As you read your classmates' posts on the same topic, analyze each in light of your understanding of the EQ principles, and then provide feedback with appropriate insights and a possible solution. Again, the key here is for you to provide commentary that is based on what you have learned about effective interpersonal communication.
Hi all,
Well for this second post, I would like to start off with a little introduction of what it means to have an interpersonal conflict with someone else. Take for example, A and B are colleagues and A is chatting with B during lunch hour. The conversation was as follows:
A: Hey, do you think the manager from my department is slightly demanding?
B: I have not worked with the manager so I am not sure if he is demanding or were you just being unhappy over the current project that he passed to you?
In this case, interpersonal conflict may arise because B was too straightforward and such opinions may be undesired and not constructive. Henceforth, A may react defensively and potential unhappiness will occur between A and B.
Beyond that, if words of rumour are spread and the manager of A knows that A was commenting negatively on him, this will stir another round of conflict between A and his manager.
Another instance which gives rise to interpersonal conflict is when assumptions are made which result in ineffective communication. When assumptions are made and both parties are making second guesses on each other's intentions instead of clarifying, it will stir misunderstandings leading to unnecessary accusations and uninvited conflicts.
In conclusion, interpersonal conflicts can be avoided if one thinks carefully before sharing their opinions and also to consider other's party point of view before refuting or voicing out disagreements.

Mr. Tan Ching Miao
Project Manager of
ABC Home Building Company
123 Orange Boulevard#03-12

Dear Mr. Tan:
I am submitting the enclosed resume for consideration of the Project
Director’s position which appears in the Strait Times Paper on February 17,
2013. I’m a fresh graduate from National University of Singapore, holding an
honours in computer engineering and I believe I have the relevant skills for
the above position.
In my course of study, my main curriculum was Design Centric Program which
helps me not just to integrate my areas of expertise in computing but also in
thinking creatively and dynamically when dealing with projects. A fresh
perspective to look at problems and critical thinking helps in solving problems
effectively and efficiently. With effective problem solving, time can be saved
and it would be a great benefit for your company.
In addition, through the 3 years
long course of DCP, I have learnt many other passive skills which can be
beneficial as a Project Director in your company and one of which is leadership
skill and team work. Together with my fellow group mate, we managed to create a
prototype of emergency helicopter specialized in urban areas and we have
managed to earn the most innovative project mark and
design for this. Such valuable skill to lead and work as a team will definitely
help to boost productivity in your company.
Following which, I have passed the test on verbal and non-verbal
communication skill modules
in National University of Singapore, such as ES2007 on communication skill, which
will aid me to be able to communicate clearly and appropriately as a Project
Director. I believe I will greatly benefit your company as good communication
would mean greater efficiency which helps to increase productivity in your
organization.
Last but not least, my qualification as an honours student of Computer
Engineering gives me the advantage over matters related to computer’s hardware
and software which
Having the above qualities and skills, I believe I am capable of
managing as a Project Director in your company and I am keen in exploring
opportunities with ABC Home Building Company Ltd. I look forward to meeting
you. You may contact me at 93887060 or email me at renaldy_widjaja@yahoo.com to follow
up with an interview.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Renaldy Audry Widjaja

Why communication skill is very important to me
Hi everyone, my name is Renaldy. A little background about myself, I'm an Indonesian who has been in Singapore for a few years and currently majoring in computer engineering year 2 at NUS.
Personally, I feel communication skill is an interesting and difficult subject to grasp on. Often, when communicating, understanding one another can become difficult if language becomes a barrier especially when it is a language you are not familiar with. Not to mention, the varsity of the language itself, even with those languages which you are familiar yourself, can become extra complicated and has many meaning to it. Misunderstanding can then arouse which makes communication very vulnerable to break down. Thus, improvising one skill in communicating with other groups of people is very important.
Not to mention, humans live by their companions. They can't live by themselves and has to rely on others to survive, especially me. Only with the communication network I had, I have managed to survive to live in a competitive society such as Singapore. Not to mention, the value of information from others are very precious as it helps to keep me in check with the upcoming tasks and as well as personal life entertainment. With the multitude friends and companions hips I have, life becomes less boring and more entertaining. Thus, communicating skill, to me, is very crucial.
To sum up, to be able to interact with others is a gift for me and to be able to interact well with others is important to me because without a good communication skill, expanding network and surviving seems to be a very harsh job. Not to mention, the loneliness and helplessness without much interaction with others. So, as not to be misunderstood and be heard clearly as how I want to say it, a goods communication skill is very important.
